Concept

본 프로젝트는 도시의 기억을 지우는 기존의 ‘전면 철거’ 방식에서 벗어나, 지역의 기억을 간직한 건축물을 보존하는 데서 시작한다. 50년 된 삼각맨숀과 100년의 역사를 지닌 우리은행 건물을 리모델링하여 새롭게 활용하고, 주변 맥락보다 큰 대상지의 규모를 활용해 시민들이 머무는 ‘도시의 거실’을 제안한다. 나아가 지형의 경사를 확장한 선큰 공간을 조성함으로써 지하층까지 입체적으로 활용하도록 계획하였다.

This project deviates from the conventional ‘total demolition’ approach—which erases urban memory—by prioritizing the preservation of structures that embody the local heritage. The 50-year-old Samgak Mansion and the century-old Woori Bank building are remodeled for adaptive reuse, while the site’s substantial scale is leveraged to introduce a ‘City Living Room’ for public interaction. Furthermore, by extending the site’s natural topography into a sunken plaza, the design creates a three-dimensional layout that actively integrates the underground levels.

주거 부분은 사회적인 수요에 맞추어 1인가구 주거를 위주로 고민되었다. 주거에서 기본적으로 중요한 요소를 ‘채광과 환기’로 규정하고, 이를 위해 각 모듈 사이에 빛과 바람이 들어갈 공간을 만들었다. 이후, 엇갈리게 층을 쌓아가며 생기는 빈 공간을 테라스로 만들어 거주자들이 자신만의 외부 공간을 가질 수 있도록 계획했다. 재료의 경우에는 남향의 이점을 더 적극적으로 활용하기 위해 유리 벽돌을 사용하였다.

The residential sector focuses on single-person households in response to shifting social demands. Defining ‘natural light and ventilation’ as the core elements of a quality home, the design separates the individual modules to create voids that allow light and air to flow through. By stacking these modules in a staggered arrangement, the resulting interstitial spaces are transformed into private terraces, providing residents with their own outdoor areas. To further maximize the advantages of the southern exposure, glass bricks were selected as the primary material to draw diffused light deep into the living spaces.
